Starting with the rhythm of our breathing, the chirping of the birds, the gushing gurgling water, the swaying of the trees, the buzz of the bees, the thundering of the clouds………and the list is endless… Mother nature thus blesses some of us to represent this magic and SUNITA KAPUR is certainly one of them.
Giving expression to her talent from childhood Sunita was encouraged by her parents to study Indian Classical Music. She very easily became the favorite of her teachers. She further pursued to complete her Sangeet Visharad (Masters in Indian Classical music) from the prestigious institute Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bombay, India. Completing in the meantime her university degree in Law, Sunita was on the crossroads of her life deciding her profession, and music being in her soul she went on further to train herself in Classical Vocal Music under the guidance of masters like Pandit Govind Prasad Jaipurwale, Smt. Shashikala Kaikini and Pandit Sudhindra Bhaumik . Her Gurus (teachers) moulded her voice to sing with perfection, music of a variety of styles such as Hindustani Classical, Ghazals, Bhajans, Popular Film Songs. Also, living in Bombay, a cosmopolitan city, Sunita was easily able to sing in many different languages such as Hindi, Urdu, English, Gujrati, Marathi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil etc.
Sunita’s melodious voice, and charismatic personality was soon noticed by the music big wigs of Bollywood. She became the most sought after female lead singer for stage in the Bollywood Music Industry, singing in India and abroad with Sonu Nigam, Anu Malik, Sudesh Bhosle, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Kalyanji Anandji, Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Alka Yagnik, Shaan, Vinod Rathod and many celebrities from the Indian Film Industry such as Amir Khan, Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Subhash Ghai, Amitabh Bacchan, Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Saif Ali Khan and the list goes on.
Her popularity went beyond the stage in the music recording rooms and she was soon lending her voice for numerous jingles in different languages, theater, Television serial titles, and cutting CDs for leading music companies like Zee Music, Tips, Venus, Weston, Nuff Music U.K, T-Series, Vishwa and many more.
The boom in TV shows made producers seek Sunita to anchor several TV music shows. She very successfully anchored the weekly musical TV show called ” PICNIC ANTAKSHRI” with film star Sachin. The show went on successfully for a long time till she came to settle in New York, USA. She is now busy as a lead singer with live performances at Musicsunita Live Band, recording songs, and above all, extending her vast knowledge of music, by teaching to all who are interested in knowing about Indian Music through Musicsunita Academy of Music.
